our quest for the
best dog bone pan.....
When visiting our retail website, you'll
probably notice that we sell pans made of only one kind of material: metal with non-stick finish. If you've browsed other dog birthday or
bakery websites, you may have seen other bone-shaped cake pans---one that costs a
few dollars less, another that's way less---and you may wonder why we
don't sell those.
It's simple:
we use this pan; so
we sell this pan. It produces pretty cakes and it's safe to use.
When creating
puppy party
all-natural dog cake mix, we looked at all the dog bone cake
pans on the market. One design was actually going off the
market, but we were able to get our hands on one. The pan had no
bottom, like a huge cookie cutter, and we found it messy to use with
cake batter. Another was flexible silicone. We didn't like
that one because the middle of the pan spread wider during baking,
making the bone misshapen. A third was made of oven-safe plastic.
While there was nothing wrong with the pan, cakes made in it were more
loaf-like, not really as cute as we wanted.
We thought we'd hit pay dirt when we found
bone-shaped metal cookie tins with lids that another company was
using. They packaged mix in these tins, then customers baked
cakes in them. With lids, leftovers could be easily stored.
Sounded great, but there was a problem: the supplier we talked with said
the tins shouldn't be used for baking food.
finally, a dog
bone pan
that's just right.....
Then we heard that someone was manufacturing a
metal dog bone cake pan with non-stick finish; so we eagerly awaited its
arrival on the market. This pan was developed for baking, meaning
it's food-safe, and it makes the cutest cake, about 9" long tip to tip,
6" wide at the ends and 1-1/2" high, like a big dog biscuit.
This pan is also great for puppy-themed children's
parties. It isn't a perfect fit for people cake mix;
so we played around with several cake brands to figure it out. We
had to eat a lot of mistakes but finally found the right proportions to
make beautiful 2-layer people cakes. We include those tips with cake pan orders, so that our customers won't have to figure it out,
too.
