why we call them
dog cookies.....

Maybe we should have called them dog biscuits or dog bones, since that's what shoppers were used to, at the Farmers Market where we got our start.  We wouldn't have had to answer the question all the time, "What are dog cookies?"  But our products are anything but conventional, and the usual descriptions just didn't apply.  (Read the story of our early days at the Farmers Market: Dog Cakes? You're Joking!)

For one thing, we wanted to let customers know these were out-of-the-box treats, not like products sitting on the shelves of big box stores.  Also, we never made our treats rock-hard, like the usual dog bones.  These were crunchy cookies, with all that the word implies, for taste and comfort.

And, then, there were the fun shapes we made.  Who could call those dog biscuits?!  Frogs, butterflies, stars, moons, alligators, hearts, flowers and on and on.  At holidays we used other festive shapes.  And, yes, we also made bone-shaped cookies, dog bones.

We've started posting some of our recipes for dogs everywhere to enjoy.  You can find them here.
